How to Lose Love Handles
There are two
parts in how to lose love handles. First you have to lose the fat on the sides of the stomach, which are the
actual love handles, and second, you have to tone the muscles on the sides of the stomach, called the
obliques.
Since you can’t spot burn fat, you have to burn fat around the whole body and eventually you will see less fat
on the love handles as well. You can, however, spot tone muscles, and this article will give you a great workout in
how to do just that for your obliques.
First we will tackle the problem of fatty tissue around the sides of the stomach. This is usually a bigger
problem for men but can be seen in women as well. The best way to burn that fat is through a strict low calorie
diet and plenty of cardiovascular exercise. The best diet to follow wouldn’t be a fad diet that eliminates any
necessary nutrients like carbohydrates or all fat.

from vegetables. Healthy fats can come from fish, nuts, and seeds. Protein can come from lean meats, legumes, and
vegetables. Cut out any processed and artificial foods. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day and
especially when you sweat. All these diet tips are helpful in how to lose love handles.
The best cardiovascular exercise to burn calories is long steady aerobic exercise or short bursts of high
intensity interval training. A good choice for longer exercise is biking, hiking, jogging, or swimming. Good
choices for the short bursts of exercise is sprinting, jumping rope, or interval training on the elliptical
machine.
Once you get your diet and exercise in check, it is time to tighten those ab muscles. Here is a list of
exercises that work the core, focusing directly on the obliques on the side of the abdominals, which is the best
way how to lose love handles:
Bicycle- This move is not only great for the obliques but also to achieve a great six pack. To
do this move lay on your back with your hands behind your head and your legs forming a 90 degree angle in the air.
Extend one leg out with a pointed toe as you bring one elbow to the opposite knee. Switch legs and elbows in a
fluid movement, touching opposite knees to elbows.
Oblique Crunch- This move is done laying on your side on the floor. Bring the hand closest to
the ceiling behind your head and lay the other hand on the ground in front of you. Bring your torso up toward your
hip, like a crunch but to the side.
Twisting V-Sit- This move is done sitting on the ground with your feet on the floor and your
hands holding a ball. Lift your feet off the floor a couple of inches holding your torso up as well. Twist your
torso to one side and touch the ball to the floor beside you. Twist to the other side and bring the ball to the
floor on that side.
Complete this types of exercises along with a balanced diet and plenty of cardiovascular exercise and you will
have successfully learned how to lose love handles.
